| CRITICAL INCIDENT
MANAGEMENT
“Critical
Incidents” may include accidents in the workplace arising
in employee injury or death, or may only involve “close
calls” where no one is injured but the potential for injury
was high. They may include acts of violence, again
with or without employee injury.
This can seriously disrupt a workplace
for some time. Some individuals experience a lingering
impact on their ability to function at home or work. These
kinds of effects vary according to the type of incident
as well as the individuals involved. In addition
to traumatic incidents, staff can be impacted by the loss
of a co-worker that occurs outside of work, or a terminal
diagnosis in a coworker.
We provide counselling for incidents like accidents in
the workplace, acts of violence, loss or impending loss
of a co-worker. In some settings, the loss of a family
member can cause employees considerable distress and lead
them to struggle with knowing what to say and how to act
as their coworker copes and returns to work. When
a critical incident occurs, managers are often in need
of aid in supporting their staff.
Our services include:
• Consultation for Managers
• Group Debriefing if required, focused on coping with
the event
• On-Site and Follow-Up Support for Individuals
• Loss interventions if the incident is around grieving
or supporting a colleague who is grieving
We offer these services
at our offices or onsite, as required, at the convenience
of our clients. For more information, please contact our
office at: (403) 238-8300.
